Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi on Sunday evening presented Kalaimamani awards to a total number of 125 artistes who excelled in the field of art, dance and drama in the last three years.

Presenting the Kalaimamani awards for the years 2008, 2009 and 2010 and also the television awards for 2007 and 2008, the Chief Minister said he would increase the number of awards if he returned as Chief Minister after the Assembly elections.

“Now we have given awards to 125 persons. If I become the Chief Minister for the sixth time, the awards given by the Iyal Isai Nadaga Mandram will be increased to 225,” Karunanidhi said.

Actors Arya, Anushka, Tamannah, Rohini and Saranya, cinematographer Rajeev Menon and comedian Karunaas were among those from the Tamil film industry who were selected for the coveted honour.
