In a surprise move, Vijayakanth has announced that his maiden directorial venture ‘Virudhagiri’ will hit the screens on December 10.

‘In the film, I play a police officer whose name is ‘Virudhagiri’. Nearly 80 per cent of the movie was shot in foreign locations. It will be a racy action thriller with a message,” says the actor-politician.

Denying a claim that all his recent movies had bombed at the box-office, the ‘Captain’ says, “It is a rumour being spread with evil intensions. My films would sure give profits to distributors and theatre owners.”

The DMDK president, who claims that attempts were made to prevent the release of ‘Virudhagiri’, says, “But no one can stop good films reaching the masses. ‘Virudhagiri’ will see the light of the day next week.”

Produced by L K Sudeesh on Captain Cine Creations banner, the film has music by Sundar C Babu, who composed chartbusters for ‘Chithiram Pesuthadi’, ‘Anjathey’ and ‘Naadodigal’.
