The Police have launched a search for filmmaker and Naam Thamizhar Iyakkam chief Seeman, for allegedly making an inflammatory speech on the Sri Lankan Tamils issue in Chennai on Saturday.

“When a police team went in search of him, Seeman was not at the house. His mobile phone too was found switched off. We are looking for him,” a senior police officer was quoted saying while Seeman’s lawyer insisted that his client was not on the run.

Speaking at a demonstration against the island government’s alleged atrocities against Tamils, in Chennai Saturday, the director reportedly came down heavily on countries opposing the UN panel set up to probe allegations of war crimes in Sri Lanka.

It is also said that Seeman, who is a pro-LTTE activist, demanded that Sri Lanka should refrain from using Chinese prisoners in reconstruction projects in the war-hit areas and made some inflammatory remarks.

Following this, the Police registered cases against him for allegedly instigating violence and indulging in acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony.
