With an aim to cover 17 lakh households in Chennai, Dhayanidhi Alagiri, one of the most happening producers of Tamil film industry, launched a MSO (multi system operator) in cable TV distribution business on the Chithirai Thirunaal day.

Operations for Jak Communications, the new venture, were launched by Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilisers M K Alagiri while his wife Kandhi Alagiri lit the lamp. A happy-looking Union minister said, “The MSO will be useful to the people of Chennai.”

Speaking to reporters, Dhayanidhi said, “There are 17 lakh connections in the Metropolitan area and we are seeking to cover them in a phased manner.” Asked about the stiff competition from SCV, run by the Sun TV Network, he said, “All business ventures are started with a dream. We have a dream too.”

“We are technologically superior and have a competitive price. We are going to provide many value added services like astrology and email,” claimed Jayaraman Kamalesh, another director of the company whose father Jayaraman is already successfully running an MSO in the suburbs of Chennai from Avadi to Tiruttani.
