It's now the season for newcomers to come and make a mark in tinsel town. Tamil cinema is witnessing a plethora of debutants in various crafts and establishing credentials with their great work. Tamil film music has been blessed with rich talents since its evolution. Talented music composers and singers have brought great repute to the industry. From the silent films to the talkies till 2010, Tamil film music has always been respected and revered. The likes of G Ramanathan, K V Mahadevan, M S Vishwanathan, Illayaraja, A R Rahman till Harris Jeyaraj have come out up with catchy tunes. Much recently, a group of youngsters are venturing to Tamil film music who with their music have made an impact among music-lovers. The music albums specially 'Unnaipol Oruvan', 'Eeram', 'Athey Neram Athey Idam', 'Vizhiyil Vizhundhaval', 'Ariyaan' and 'Renigunta' not just sound different but also combined class and contemporary music well.

Shruthi Haasan, daughter of Kamal Haasan made her debut as music composer with 'Unnaipol Oruvan'. Shruthi, who studied music in London, rendered a heart-rending composition which was acclaimed not just by her father but by great legends like M S Vishwanathan and K Balachandar. The album also features a theme song sung by herself. What more she impressed everyone with her catchy background score.

In 'Eeram', young Thaman, one of the boys in Shankar's 'Boys', came up with a good music to win our hearts. Produced by Shankar and directed by Arivazhagan, 'Eeram' had music that was quite appropriate to its title. It's soft, simple and splendid. It had three tracks and a theme music, which is strikingly different from others. With chartbusters in 'Sindhanai Sei' and 'Eeram', Thaman has made a bright beginning.

Catchy and splendid is the recent music album 'Renigunta' rendered by debutant Ganesh Raghavendra. The album has half-a-dozen songs sung by the likes of Harish Raghavendra, Shreya Ghoshal and actor Silambarasan. A mix of catchy and trendy music, the album is expected to find favour with youngsters.

Premji Amaran, who hail from a musical family, has proved that he is a capable music composer too. His score in 'Adhey Neram Adhey Idam' which stars Jai and Vijayalakshmi in the lead roles is already topping the charts. The highlight of the album is a song rendered by his brother and acclaimed filmmaker Venkat Prabhu. The album has a mix of trendy and conventional music. Hats off Premji!.

Among youngsters who have a great passion for catchy rhythms is Vikram Varman. The newcomer has come up beautiful melodies in 'Ariyaan'. The album has songs that has fun, frolic and of course melodies stitched together well.

'Vizhiyil Vizhundhaval' starring Ajaz, Anaka, Shilpa with musical score by Pollack is attracting the attention of youngsters. The music composer has ensured that his tunes are trendy and chic. Also his orchestration and good use of rhythms are luring music-lovers.

With all these youngsters on fray, one can proudly say that Tamil film music is undergoing a welcome change, slowly but steadily.
