Just by the sigh of him ladies would drop their baskets and scamper away screaming, people would tremble with fear on hearing his ruthless tone. He made the women audience to shut their eyes when he appears on screen and curse his malice.

Character artist Ponnambalam etched a place for himself in the industry with his split-leg stuns and beefy body. Thought he is replaced by different kinda Villain actors now, he ruled the industry during 90s.

Ponnambalam, who has acted in more than 250 films in all the south languages, is making his debut in small screen through a mythological serial called ‘Naga Valli’. Ponnambalam plays the character of Asura who troubles Devas and Munivars. He stands out with shades of humour in his character, though he comes as a baddie.

An additional tittle-tattle about the actor is that he is shuttling between the shoot of the TV serial and working for his film ‘Idiyudan Koodiya Mazhai’. Yup Ponnambalam is now directing a film. Hmmm…Cinema can teach everybody everything!
