Karthiga is playing her own self, a Malayalam speaking girl, in the remake of 'Nootrukku Nooru'. "I am playing the role enacted by Srividya in the original. Happy to bag the offer," she says.

On acting in remakes ('Palaivana Cholai' and 'Nootrukku Nooru'), the actress says, "acting in movies inspired by yesteryear blockbusters is easy. One can easily understand each and everything about the character while acting in a remake."

Karthiga however says she carefully avoids imitating veterans. "It was tough to recreate the magic created by Suhasini in ‘Palaivana Cholai’. I however had tried my best," she says.

Claiming that she is being approached by many a filmmaker after 'Dindigul Sarathy', the actress says she is choosy about the films she act in. "I want to establish myself as an actor with substance. Hence I am careful before signing on the dotted line," she says.
