Alleging that she was being ignored, Telugu Desam Party's women wing president and actress R K Roja on Monday resigned from the party.
In her resignation letter to the TDP, she alleged that the party neglected her despite her hard work. She said that a section of party leaders was responsible for her defeat in the 2004 and 2009 Assembly elections.
Roja, who hails from TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidus native Chittoor district is working for the TDP for nearly a decade. She had surprised political circles by calling Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy a couple of weeks ago.
The actress, who worked in over 100 Telugu and Tamil movies, lost the recent Assembly elections in Chandragiri constituency in Chittoor district.
