Less than a fortnight after she stoutly denied reports that she would join the ruling Congress, actress and Telugu Desam Party leader Roja on Sunday called on Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy and said she was ready to work under a selfless leader.

Emerging out of a 20-minute meeting with Reddy, Roja said she was yet to take a decision on joining the Congress, but indicated it was only a matter of time. “I have no objection to work under a leader (Rajasekhara Reddy) who cares about his followers and will not leave them when in distress”.

The actress-politician was accompanied by former TTD chairman B Karunakara Reddy. Heaping praise on the Chief Minister, she said, “He is so polite. He set aside the past.” Roja is known for her acerbic remarks against the Congress including Reddy himself. On the decision to part ways with the Chandrababu Naidu-led party, she said, “I had cared the TDP more than my children. But the party did not reciprocate in the same measure. Some leaders within the TDP sabotaged my prospects twice in general elections. But I continued my services to the party”.
