Among films with routine genre, ‘Katrathu Thamizh’ was different from the usual way of the director’s narration. The film was written and directed by Ram who was just a beginner in the industry. The film is all about an ordinary young Tamil-postgraduate, who becomes frustrated with and futility of his job. He slowly loses his intellectual steadiness and turn out to be a psychopath. Ram took a bold topic in his very first film and gained critical acclaims, however the film was not a commercial hit.

For the reason that ‘Katrathu Thamizh’ did not do well in the box-office, Ram struggled for his next break. Now, the director is ready to kick start his next project under the banner of ‘Touch Stone’. This film features fresh faces in the lead and is titled ‘Thanga Meengal’. Director Cheran’s associate director Umapathy does a pivotal role in this one.

Ram must have nurtured himself in this period of cocoon after ‘Katrathu Thamizh’. We must wait to see the colours of his wings designed for ‘Thanga Meengal’.
