K S Ravikumar seems to be the latest addition to the list of Tamil cinema directors making their presence felt in Bollywood. The filmmaker, according to sources, is all set to step into Hindi cinema by remaking his super hit 'Thenali', the Kamal Haasan starrer.

If sources are to be believed, Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar, who watched some of the movies by K S Ravikumar (including Dasavatharam), wanted to act in his direction. The actor himself had suggested the filmmaker to remake 'Thenali' for him, it is believed. Thenali, with Kamal Haasan, Jayaram and Jyothika in lead roles, is a comedy caper. The film is about a psychologically-affected innocent youth who falls in love with the younger sister of the psychiatrist who is treating him.

A R Rahman has scored the music for the movie produced by Ravikumar’s own production firm. Kamal’s Sri Lankan Tamil accent and Jayaram’s performance are the highlights of 'Thenali', which hit theatres during Deepavali 2000.
