With a legend writer at home, it’s hard to keep off the creative ink. And Madan Karkki seems to have succumbed to it. Son of noted lyricist Vairamuthu has also begun writing lyrics for films, toeing his dad’s line.

Announcing this at a press meet for the film ‘Ilamai Idho Idho’, was Karkki. “My father didn’t want me to become a lyricist. But I convinced him by telling him I am not doing it as a full time profession. I studied at the Anna University and now work there,” says the youngster, whose first film will be Rajini’s ‘Endhiran’.

It seems Vairamuthu, who did not want to stand in the way of his son’s ambitions, wanted to launch his son in a big film. When he approached Rajinikanth and director Shankar with the idea, both were gracious to offer the lyricist’s son an opportunity to write in ‘Endhiran’. Vairamuthu was initially supposed to write all songs but it was later learnt that his song will also be writing one song, which is a duet. And then, ‘Ilamai Idho Idho’ happened. “I’ve written three songs for this film,” says the youngster. ‘Ilamai Idho Idho’ has four new comers in the lead, and is being directed by debutant Raja.
