Known for his sharp tongue and pro Tamil stand, director Thangar Bachchan was in full flow during the audio release function of Karthik Anitha on Friday.

Expressing his regret at the pitiable lives of several thousand Tamils in neighbouring Sri Lankan nation struck in ethnic war, Thangar questioned the motive of Tamil film actors, whom he alleged to be adopting double-standards over the issue.

Lashing an attack at them, Thangar said, 'when I approached every popular actor to work in a project for Lankan Tamils, everyone declined. In contrast, they are now shedding crocodile tears for their cause'.

Thangar Bachchan further said, 'the quality of films has come down badly. Without any second thoughts, they remake and dub movies from other languages. In the name of Tamil, everything is English in Kollywood. The time for oldies to give way for young blood in the industry has come now '.
