Prasanna who has played a sophisticated Non Resident Indian in the film 'Achamundu Achamundu' will be seen as a Chennai slum dweller in his next film 'Naai Kutty'. The film has been christened with this unusual name because the protagonist of the film, as the story goes, was abandoned by his mother in a road side dust bin along with a group of puppies. A rickshaw peddler spots the baby, names him Naai Kutty and raises him. The life of this abandoned baby as he grows up in a merciless and cold world forms the rest of the story.
The director of the film S. S. Joe, a former associate of Ram Subbu who churned out the film 'Katrathu Thamizh', was himself raised in the slums of Chennai and so is expected to bring out the emotional and social plight of slum dwellers with reality as the strength.
'Naai Kutty' is produced by V. A. Durai who had produced the films 'Ennama Kannu', 'Looty' and 'Pithamagan' earlier. Actress Nicole has been roped in as the heroine. A host of new comers are also part of the project. Music is by Sundar C. Babu.
