Saranya has been around in Kollywood for long doing a variety of roles that has today earned her a name of a highly versatile and natural actress who slips into the skin of her character with ease.

The actress who played the role of Kamal Haasan's heroine in the super hit 'Nayagan' today appears in the big screen mostly in the role of the Hero's mother.

She was highly appreciated for her role of Jeeva's mother in the film 'Ram' in which she always faces some kind of troubles due to her son.

In Cheran's 'Thavamai Thavamairudhu' and 'Em Mahan' also she enacted the roles of the leading man's mother and came out with superb performances.

In the recently released Ilaya Thalapathi Vijay’s 'Kurivi' she gave life to the role of a very quite sister in law.

In the new film 'Thenavattu' she will be again seen in a mother's role.

This role even though is a mother's character that the experienced actress has now become an expert in handling comes with a difference.

She will not be seen as a polite and helpless mother who breaks down into tears so fast.

Saranya will be seen as a very hard hitting and rough mother of the hero Kottasami played by Jeeva.

The story of the film is set against a backdrop of a rural atmosphere.

Saranya as usual will make this role also memorable and this mom role with the difference can also show the actress in a new style which can eventually lead her to getting roles that will dig more into her acting potential.
