A climax is like a lifeline to a movie. Since people go out of the cinema halls with the fresh memory of the last scene, the scene gains more importance than any other. Hence, climax, in most cases, decides the destiny of the film.
Tamil filmmakers, right from the beginning, have been with a mind set that doesnt allow them to have the so-called negative climax. Tamil cinema, over the years, has formulated certain unwritten laws and stuck to the laws with loyalty. One of those laws is that the hero will never go wrong or fail. He must be shown as a positive force, even if he indulges in criminal activities. Finally, he should go scot-free under the disguise of moral authority.
However, we have had a few films that have defied this set pattern and Bheemaa is the latest arrival to this exceptional group of movies. Lingusamy and his team have had the guts to opt for a realistic and seemingly negative climax to Bheemaa. The climax doesnt justify the acts of the protagonist. In fact the director hasnt tried to justify the hero in the whole movie. He has just portrayed the character with its shades and the psychological background of the man.
The climax is the highpoint of the movie with its realistic approach. The unexpected climax defies the clichéd endings of the films belonging to this genre. The director and the dialogue writer S. Ramakrishnan have done well by presenting the whole thing in a convincing manner.
The climax also has a message without preaching anything. The movie doesnt bury the eternal justice in the pursuit of upholding the heroism. Lingusamy has courageously chosen a rare path without bothering about the heroism. He hasnt succumbed to the trend to go for the so-called positive ending.
The way the climax has been received by the people has vindicated Lingusamys approach and the confidence he has had on the audiences.
