Actress Kushboo has denied charged leveled against her that she showed disrespect to the Hindu Gods by wearing chappals at the launch of the movie 'Vallamai Tharayo' in Chennai recently.

Kushboo says that, “I have a great respect for all religions. I am a firm believer in Almighty. Be it any form or any religion, I never failed to show my respect to them”.

It may be recalled that a case was filed against the actress for wearing chappals in front of the idols of Hindu Gods by one Gurumurthy. He had sought a legal action against Kushboo for hurting the sentiments of Hindus. The petition came up for hearing before a court in the State and was posted for further hearing on 3 December.

The actress, who is currently taking part in International Film Festival in Goa, said, “I am not guilty. My further course of action would be decided after consulting my lawyers”.

Meanwhile, Madhumitha, director of 'Vallamai Tharayao', also spoke in defense of Kushboo. “No one will hurt the sentiments of any particular community. It was a grand muhurrat and we hope the issue would be sorted out soon”.
