The movie features Ashwin, son of actor-turned-politician S Ve Shekher, making his debut on the silver screen with Vegam. Well trained in martial arts and dance, Ashwin plays an action-packed role in his maiden venture.

Tollywood actress Archana is the heroine while Shekher plays a cameo. Prabhu dons the role of a police officer. Kushboo, Sriman and Mayilsamy are also in the cast. A major portion of the movie was shot in Malaysia. Musical score is by Rajesh Vaidya.

S Ve Shekher says, “Quite appropriate to the title, the movie is fast-paced. The second half is racy and thrilling”. Ashwin plays the role of a youth, who runs an event management company. In the foreign land, he comes across Kushboo, who is struck in a trouble. How Ashwin rescues her forms the crux.

The songs of Vegam are already a hit. A melodious number Kalabha Mayilae sung by Shekher's daughter Anuradha along with Unni Krishnan is topping the audiocharts.

Expectations are already high on the movie after well-packaged promos were screened in several theatres across the State. The movie is releasing in half-a-dozen screens in Chennai.
