After the role of rationalist leader Periyar in Gnanarajasekaran's movie of the same name, Sathyaraj now plays an upright election commissioner, a role apparently inspired by former Chief Election Commissioner T N Seshan.

The actor was also yearning to play the character since T N Seshan's days. Now, director Raj Kapoor has cast the actor in such a role in a movie titled Vambu Sandai.

Talking about his role, a thrilled Sathyaraj says, "I play a strict election commissioner called Jeevan. I bring all the bad, wicked politicians to book, but I have not imitated anyone".
