Varanam Aayiram starring Suriya is being shot at a rapid pace by Gowtham Vasudeva Menon.

After Khaakha Khaakha, Gowtham and Suriya are coming together for Varanam Aayiram. A major part of the movie occurs in the strife-torn Afghanistan. The movie is a mix of action and romance featuring Kuthu Ramya and Genelia in lead roles.

Buzz is that Suriya has donned a dual role in the movie. He plays a loving father and a happy-go-lucky son in the movie.

After Perazhagan, Suriya performs a dual role for the first time. Music is by Harris Jayaraj and cinematography by R D Rajasekhar.

Hope Suriya pulls it off playing a dual role in the film.
