Just a few months ago, Captain Vijayakanth's newly-floated DMDK managed to secure over 25 lakh votes in the Assembly elections and Vijayakanth managed to get himself elected as MLA from Vridhachalam. At several places, his party candidate comes to a close third.

Expectations are now high on Vijayakanth's party for the forthcoming Local Body elections to be held later next month. His party cadres have enthusiastically filed nominations all throughout Tamil Nadu.
