Realistic portrayals alone will help a director succeed in filmdom, says noted Malayalam director Lohitha Dass, who is busy with his debut Tamil venture Kasthurimaan starring Meera Jasmine and Prasanna.

A major portion of the movie is completed and the rest are being shot in Udumalpet now.

Asked about the movie, the director says "it's a remake of my hit Malayalam movie in the same title. It's all about the emotional struggles of a woman."

Lohitha Dass was recently caught in an unseemly controversy not so long ago. For him remake his Malayalam hit in Tamil will certainly add gist to the rumor mill.

But his reasons for making the film in Tamil are artistic.

"A heroine-based movie is quite rare these days and hence I believe this movie would work well here," he says earnestly.

In the film, Meera Jasmine works as a maidservant in several houses to help his lover become a policeman. When the hero eventually becomes one, his family starts to search for a better bride for him. This results in the lover couple deciding to elope.

At this juncture, a murder occurs in heroine's house. The hero comes to know that it was committed by none but his ladylove herself. The rest is how he helps the girl come out of it.

"It's a realistic portrayal of all characters. Moreover reworking a success formula assures one the comfort to experiment", says Lohitha Dass
