Madhavan is busy shooting for Thambi in Pondicherry now.

Playing a Tamil chauvinist in the movie, Madhavan says, "I am keen on choosing different scripts and new stories to shed the lover-boy image".

Speaking at the sets of Thambi, Maddy says, "this movie being directed by Seeman is all about how violence ushers a fresh lease of life for a community. Normally people say violence is not the reply to violence. However Thambi deals in detail about how violence bringing an end to violence".

Asked about his image among audience, Madhavan says, "I am surprised when people call me a romantic hero. I have acted in movies like Anbae Sivam, Priyamana Thozhi, Kannathil Muthamittal and Ayudha Ezhuthu that had nothing to do with romance.

But I am still referred to as romantic hero in town. Any how I am happy when I am remembered by people even outside theaters".

Thambi would be released this May. "I hope to make it big playing the action hero in it", Maddy adds.
