The Kerala Film federation has banned Chandramukhi in Kerala. This follows a complaint from producer Appachan, director Fazil and writer Madhu Muttom. P Vasu who bought the story rights for Kannada from the producer put his name as the storywriter for the Kannada version `Appathmitra’. Now Vasu claims that he has taken only one line from Appathmithra and so he does not have to take any rights for Tamil. Vasu in defense says that he feels like laughing when anyone claims that Chandramukhi is Manichithrathazhu. But Appachan, Fazil and Madhu Muttom have found the entire episode to be a serious matter. Instead of laughing at it they have given a complaint. In the meanwhile a kovai based distributor who bought the Kerala distribution is in a dizzy after the dispute. The federation had before banned Priyadrashan over a similar story rights issue of Tamil film Lesa Lesa. Priyadarshan’s hindi films too were blocked. Only after the director coughed up did the ban was lifted.
