Navya Nair plays a traditional Iyer girl living in an agraharam for the film Amritham. The film is directed by Kannanan who wrote the fiery dialogues for Vedam Puthithu . Directed by Bharathiraja the film ran mainly for the powerful dialogues. Having written dialogues for more than 60 films, Kannan shifted to small screen. He wrote dialogues for KB’s Anni and Sahana. Now he has turned producer and director of the film `Amirtham’. He tells a story of an Iyer girl who falls in love with a boy next door. The boy is an atheist. Love over comes traditions and breaks all barriers. Girish Karnad plays Navya’s father and Seetha is the Maami whose hubby is Rajiv a Mirdhangam player.

Illayaraja was to score the music but due to his world tour he has given it to Bhavathrani. This is the second Tamil film after Azhagiye Ttheeye for Navya.
