Vijay Sethupathi’s upcoming film will be Mellisai directed by debutante Ranjith Jeyakodi. 80% of the shoot has been already completed and the film is expected to hit the screens in July.

Recently, Ranjith has revealed a miracle that has happened with the film. In a recent interview to a newspaper, the director has said that the film went on floors without pre-production work. Pre-production stage is considered as vital for any film and going starting the shoot without it involves huge risk. However Ranjith has completed the major part of the shoot which he considers as a ‘miracle’ that was made possible by his music-director and cinematographer.

Explaining the reason behind such decision, Ranjith said when he narrated the script to Vijay Sethupathi, the later liked the script by asked him to wait for two years. But within two months Vijay Sethupahi had called Ranjith stating that he is available for shooting immediately since one of his projects was getting delayed. Ranjith who had not even completed the pre-production work had to start the production in order to capitalize the availability of the dates of the actor who he has considered as the apt choice for his lead role.

Gayathri has paired up with Vijay Sethupathi in this film after Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kanom. Gayathri plays a violin teacher while Vijay Sethupathi is an aspiring music director in the film.
