Parthipan leads anti-piracy protest

Actor, director and producer Parthipan's daylong fast here launched the Tamil film industry's battle against film and music piracy.

Several industry persons also participated in the fast Sep 3.

After breaking his fast in the evening, he passed a torch (modelled on the Olympic torch) to a film distributor. Members of the Chennai-Chengai Anna District Distributors' association joined the relay fast Saturday, and were later joined by members of the Directors' Association and Film Writers' Union.

At least 28 industry unions are joining the protest.
