Keralites were quite unkind to Meera Jasmine when she started her career as a young girl in "Suthradharan". Horrible stories on her private life were splashed in the gossip columns of film magazines.

Needless to say the girl was very hurt. But lady luck was on her side. In no time she got some tempting Tamil offers and her very first Tamil film, "Run", with Madhavan as the hero was a huge hit.

Then, none other than Mani Ratnam offered her a role in "Aayutha Ezhuthu" in which she dubbed in her own voice. Soon she was flooded with offers from Telugu, and she became a huge hit there.

She will also be seen in Kannada soon, and her co-star is no ordinary hero: it is Puneet Rajkumar. After being treated badly by the Malayalam industry, Keralites can hardly complain if Meera Jasmine gives preference to Telugu, Tamil and Kannada over her mother tongue.
