Rainbow Colony heads the Top Ten Film Albums followed by New.

1.7-G Rainbow Colony: For a long time, there was no one in the Tamil film industry who could pose any kind of competition to A. R. Rahman. Then came this young son of Ilayaraja, Yuvan Shankar Raja. Yuvan’s music has the rustic quality of Ilayaraja and also the fast elements that get the youngsters going. A typical example is the music album of 7-G Rainbow Colony. The album has a wonderful mix of melody, classical ragas and fast numbers, not to mention a highly innovative and eminently haunting instrumental track. No wonder it is at the top.

2.New: A. R. Rahman’s albums, however ordinary they are (by the exacting standards he has set for himself), are lapped up by his fans excitedly. Though there’s nothing great about New, the album sells well and holds it own in this countdown.

3.4 friends: It is the Tamil version of one of the biggest hits in the history of Malayalam cinema, 4 the People. The music of 4 the People music by Jassie Gift left Keralaites mesmerized for many months. Jassie Gift became a sensation in Kerala. Now, the Tamil album has been released. Though it has not caught the imagination of Tamils the way it did in Kerala, its music can be heard on various radio channels all the time.

4.Gilli: Gilli continues to make the people of Tamil Nadu tap their feet or dance to Appadi Podu. The album is successful mainly because of that one song.

5.Sullan: Many expected another Manmada Raasa from a Dhanush film, but Sullan has no such number. But it has not disappointed his fans much.
