The first film of a trilogy, as planned by Anurag Kashyap, Bombay Velvet is the story of how the city became a Metropolis, set against the backdrop of love, greed, violence and Jazz.
Added Vikas Bahl of Phantom Films, "Bombay Velvet is intricately researched and beautifully fictionalized by Anurag as to how one of the greatest cities of the world was created amidst loads of action, romance, pain and huge drama. We are looking forward to working together with Fox Star to create a phenomenal cinematic experience of this story for the big screen..."
Amit Trivedi has already started work to compose the music of the film, which will be reminiscent of the golden sound of 60s.
Vijay Singh, CEO, Fox Star Studios, India added, "We are delighted to partner with Anurag on his next directorial venture Bombay Velvet. One of the best storytellers we have today, Anurag will bring alive Bombay in its original glory. What will make this cinematic journey unique will be the presence of Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma as the lead protagonists. For us at Fox Star, Bombay Velvet is yet another example of high concept cinema that we want to be known for."
