Box Office - 'Go Goa Gone' to have an edge over 'Gippi'

It is time for two unique films to clash with each other at the box office - 'Go Goa Gone' and 'Gippi'. While the films are totally different from each other, they are also quite different from the quintessential Bollywood films that release week after week.
Straying away from the set genres of action, romance, comedy, horror or drama, these films arrive at the time when Bollywood is receptive to those stories being told that dare to experiment. This also translates into the fact that both films would primarily be relying on word of mouth to do the trick instead of taking a massive kick-start.
Between 'Go Goa Gone' and 'Gippi', former would take a better start. Though Saif Ali Khan is the star quotient in the film, it isn't riding entirely on his shoulders and Kunal Khemu along with Vir Das are front facing it.
While an opening of around 40% should be a decent kick-start for the film to find some momentum growing during the course of the day, premium multiplexes can expect higher footfalls coming in, especially during the evening shows.
On the other hand 'Gippi' is entirely a multiplex film and one doesn't really foresee a noticeable single screens release for itself. The 'smallest' film ever backed by Karan Johar, it could well have fallen into 'Stanley Ka Dabba' and 'Gattu' space if not for him.
The film can't be expected to take a flying start but patronage from youth could help it find some numbers coming in, especially if it also gains some out and out positive reviews for itself.
Meanwhile there is another film also releasing alongside, 'Four Two Ka One'. A dated film featuring Jimmy Sheirgill and Rajpal Yadav in lead, it is arriving sans any promotion whatsoever and would struggle to gain an all-India release for itself.
