Kamal Hassan's appeal against Vishwaroopam's ban has been ruled by the Madras High Court. The ban which was originally imposed yesterday was reiterated by Judge Venkatraman at the High Court and the film will not be permitted to release tomorrow.
The ban originally came into play when 24 representatives from different Muslim communities across Tamil Nadu, headed by the Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam (MMK) filed a complaint with the Secretariat. On the eve of the release, the film was banned only in Tamil Nadu, while the plan was set for the rest of the states in India and even abroad. This has come as a spot of bother for Kamal indeed after the actor's original plans for releasing the film on the 11th of January went in vain after seeing problems from the Tamil Nadu Theatre Owners Association.
The actor-director will sure be counting his stones and working a strategy for the proper release of the film. The DTH release, and the theatrical premieres across the globe are also under question now. Meanwhile, several names from the film industry has come together and called the ban unfair. We are yet to see how things will shape up for Kamal and his magnum opus Vishwaroopam.
