That 'Kadal' is set in the backdrop of the lives of fishermen is an open secret. And fishermen are known for venturing into sea braving all odds, especially the weather conditions.
So when the 'Nilam' cyclone stormed Chennai earlier this week, Mani Ratnam, who was waiting to shoot some important scenes in such climatic conditions, made use of it.
"Mani Ratnam, Rajeev Menon (cinematographer) and other members of the cast and crew took it as a challenge to work during the cyclone and successfully shot the scenes near Kasimedu and Royapuram," sources said.
Apparently confirming this, Aravind Samy, who is playing a crucial role in the movie, wrote on his microblogging page: "Awesome experience of shooting in cyclonic weather in the sea for a sequence in Kadal."
