At a time when Pokiri, Dhee, Ready, Kick, Vikramarkudu and many more have had a spell on Bollywood, a Telugu film released in 1992 has inspired it in an indirect way. The film is Gharana Mogudu, which was remade in 1994 as Ladla. In 2012, Rumi Jaffrey is directing a remake of this Anil Kapoor-Sridevi starrer with Akshay Khanna and Mugdha Godse. Shriya Saran is reprising Vani Vishwanath's role in the movie.

The original was written by Paruchuri Brothers (dialogues) and P Vasu (story). The film was such a massive hit that it famously collected Rs. 10 cr.

It is not known what elements of Ladla have made the makers of its new version go for a remake. What is true is that if this film becomes a hit, it will set off a trend of remaking yesteryear movies. Also, the inspiration could be extended to Telugu films, because Ladla was inspired by Gharana Mogudu.

Besides the films mentioned at the outset, Dookudu, Don Seenu and god knows how many films, are in readied for remakes in Hindi.
