Even before the new releases of the week, 'Pappu Can't Dance Saala' and 'Jo Hum Chahein', were to hit the screens, writing was clear on the wall. It was more or less impossible for any of the two films to take even a half decent opening at the box office. Worst fears for the makers did come true when shows on the very first day saw less than 10% footfalls. Things didn't improve over the weekend and the result was out there for all to see - Bollywood had yet another pile of supreme of flops to its name.

As mentioned in this column last week, market has just not been conducive for small films right through the year and 'Pappu Can't Dance Saala' and 'Jo Hum Chahein' were no exceptions. The fact that these were barely average products further meant that there was just no breathing space for any word of mouth to spread either.

'Pappu Can't Dance Saala' could have been a reasonable watch but its scattered second half sealed the case for it. The only person who benefited from the film's release was Neha Dhupia whose well layered act has been appreciated by one and all. On the other hand 'Jo Hum Chahein' did get noticed for a few things, including the production design, music and the charm and radiance that it's debutant couple Sunny Gill and Simran Mundi spread. However none of these factors were motivating enough for the man on the street to step into theatres and check out what they had to offer.

With 'Mission:Impossible - Ghost Protocol' breathing down their neck and 'The Dirty Picture' continuing to find audience even in it's third weekend, doors have been more or less shut on 'Pappu Can't Dance Saala' and 'Jo Hum Chahein' to make any headaway after a one week run.
