Much seems to be happening at the 'Mareesan' front, while the film is at its pre-production stage.

While a few insiders vouch that the film has moved out of UTV's wings and has been bagged Aascar Films, a few others strongly deny these reports. It is said that since the film boasts off a huge budget of 25 crores that cannot be compromised with due to the script that demands massive sets, there are negotiations on between UTV Motion Pictures & Aascar Films.

Once an official confirmation is made on this front by either of the concerned parties, the cast and crew of the film will be formally announced. This film is Dhanush's biggest budget so far and it is widely rumoured that Genelia and Hansika will play his lead ladies whereas Chimbudevan will direct the venture.
