'Muran' is one of those few films in Tamil film industry that was pitched to more than fifty producers! Director Rajan Madhav, an associate of Mysskin for films like 'Anjathey' wrote the script of 'Muran' three years back and once he finished, he decided to cast Cheran and Prasanna as they fit the bill well.

However, most producers who heard the script were impressed with it but were recommending a different star cast, which according to them would have taken the film to the next level.

However, Rajan was insistent on his casting options and kept pitching with different producers to produce the film with the same cast. The film was to be produced by Hitesh Jabak (of Naan Avan Ilai and Anjathey fame), Nazir (of Kalavani fame) and many others. But at every stage the film was stuck on the casting issue and every producer wanted to make the film with a different cast.

Finally, Cheran, one of the principal casts of the film decided to produce the film on his own, as he liked the script immensely. But he couldn't complete the film at one stage and the project was looking for investors.

That’s when UTV Motion Pictures saw the film shot till then (almost 60% of the film was completed by then) and bought the film from Cheran! Rajan Madhav, who attracted every producer with his script, is finally happy to have made the film with the same cast in the manner he wanted to.

The film is a road thriller but one that does away from gory scenes. The very buzz that the script is loosely based on Alfred Hitchcock's film has raised expectations on 'Muran' amongst theatre lovers around the globe.

'Muran' is seeing a worldwide release on September 30.
