Vijay has expressed gratitude to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa for passing a resolution in the State Assembly against Sri Lankan government for its ‘atrocities’ against the Tamils and to retrieve Katchatheevu.

In a statement, the ‘Ilaya Thalapathi’ said this resolution would provide relief to Tamils who have lost their loved ones and property in the island nation. “I pray that in coming days, Tamils live in peace and get equal rights for a happy life,” he said.

Meanwhile, Vijay has lef for Shanghai to take part in Shanghai International Film Festival, where his ‘Kaavalan’ will be screened. The actor is extremely thrilled at the coveted honour of his movie getting screened at one of the prestigious events.

“It is a moment of pride to Tamil cinema. I felt honoured that Kaavalan is taking part in the Shanghai International Film Festival. I am happy to mark my presence at the event and this is the first such event for me to attend,” he said.
