Superstar Rajinikanth was on Wednesday shifted to the intensive care unit at Sri Ramachandra Medical Centre (SRMU) at Porur to improve his breathing pattern, even as fans continued to pray for his speedy recovery.

According to a hospital bulletin, a multidisciplinary team is closely watching his vital parameters to assess benefits from multi-pronged treatment strategies. Doctors say he is responding well to the treatment.

Meanwhile, more than three lakh registered Rajini fans across Tamil Nadu are conducting special poojas at temples for the matinee idol’s speedy recovery. Special fasting and prayers are organised by Christian associations too, it is said.

In Chennai, prayers will be conducted for two days beginning Friday at the Sri Raghavendra Temple in Triplicane, which is popularly called as Dakshina Manthralayam, between 7 am am 11am.
