With World Cup cricket picking up heat, there were no new Bollywood releases at the box office over the weekend gone by. A move like this from the makers is totally unprecedented as no one really dared to release a film out of sheer fear. Though the continued success of 'Tanu Weds Manu' even in it's subsequent days (during the thick of cricket season) has proven that there is no stopping a good film, the superstitious industry that Bollywood is refrained from taking any risks.

All of this meant that theaters had to be content with a B grade Hollywood flick 'Battle: Los Angeles' which tried to sell itself as 'Independence Day' meets '2012'. The dubbed version of this lesser known film was released in select theaters across the country but the results were hardly impressive as no one really bothered to check it out. The film by itself was panned by one and all which means the exhibitors suffered the most as they were not left with any software whatsoever that could have promised some moolah.

A few theaters also re-released 'Dabangg', 'Rab Be Bana Di Jodi', '3 Idiots' and 'Ghajini' but that would hardly result in any substantial contribution to the box office. All in all, a disappointing turn of events at box office when something new in the theaters could have at least got the Bollywood cycle running.
