Mani Ratnam is getting started with the pre-production work for the ambitious project 'Ponniyin Selvan'. With no inhibitions Mani is gathering advices, suggestions and words of wisdom from the best of the best possible to make the film a landmark film in the history of Tamil cinema.

In the process Mani had taken some valuable suggestions from Kamal Haasan too. The historic film would require herds of horses and Mani was enquiring with Kamal Haasan. Why Kamal? For his epic ‘Maruthanayagam’ Kamal had specially imported horses from France.

Kamal was suggesting the places and people in France who would be of help to Maniratnam in getting the horses. Kamal also suggested Mani Ratnam to have two of his best men who worked in the script of ‘Maruthanayagam’ to assist him in the project.

It will be interesting to remember here the perfectionist Mani Ratnam brought specific dogs that look like wolves from Australia for a particular scene in ‘Raavanan’.
