Even as a protest was staged in front of his house on Sunday against ‘Nadunisi Naaygal’, director Gautham Vasudev Menon defended his film saying that the scenes which faced objection were an intrinsic part of the movie.

“Nadunisi Naaygal is based on a real life incident. I respect the sentiments of others. But at the same time, I would also like to request them not to interfere in my freedom of expression,” the filmmaker said.

Meanwhile, more than 20 members of the Hindu Makkal Katchi were arrested on Sunday after they undertook a rally with dogs to Gautham’s house in Taramani. They raised slogans against the director.

They were protesting the explicit scenes in ‘Nadunisi Naaygal’, alleging that certain parts of the movie hurt the sentiments of Hindus. “It also showed women in poor light,” the activists of HMK charged.
