The Tamil Nadu Theatre Owners Association on Thursday decided not to support any Vijay-starrer films, including his forthcoming venture 'Kavalan', which is planned for Pongal.
A resolution in this regard was adopted at the association's executive committee meeting in Tiruchirapalli, chaired by its vice-president R Narayanasamy Naidu.
According to the resolution, owners of cinema halls across the State have suffered huge losses by screening the actor's last venture 'Sura'. "He should compensate the losses. But there is no positive reply from him," it said.
The resolution added: "Hence we have decided not to extend any cooperation to Kavalan and the actor's other films in future." The association appealed the Tamil Nadu government to exempt theatres from property tax and to reduce power tariff for cinema halls.
According to general secretary of the association R Panneerselvam, they have also decided to observe a fast in Chennai on February 15 to press the above demands.
