Popular filmmaker and Vijay's father S A Chandrasekar, who made waves in cinema and political circles last week by meeting AIADMK general secretary J Jayalalithaa, has said that his son would not enter politics now.

"Vijay will sure not come to politics now. Because, a strong foundation should be laid before his political entry. At the same time, he will continue helping the poor and the needy by various social welfare activities," Chandrasekar said.

Stating that his meeting with the former Chief Minister was a courtesy call, Chandrasekar added: "I may step into politics and will canvass for a political party in the forthcoming Assembly elections."

He said Vijay has been doing social service through his recently floated 'Makkal Iyakkam'. "The sole purpose of the organisation is to help the people."
