K Balachander, the master filmmaker of Tamil cinema, has never failed to appreciate young directors and artistes whenever their works impressed him. The latest to join the list is Karu Palaniappan.

The director of ‘Parthiban Kanavu’ and ‘Pirivom Santhippom’, who made his acting debut with ‘Mandhira Punnahai’ last week, has received a letter from Balachander, appreciating him.

In his letter, KB said, “In ‘Mandhira Punnahai’, you have handled a different idea in a deft manner. You have successfully completed a tough job. I feel it as nothing short of an achievement.”

“The suspense in the screenplay has been handled in a beautiful manner,” the veteran director said and added: “This paves foundation for the success of the film.” Produced by Indira Pictures, ‘Mandhira Punnahai’ has Meenakshi opposite Karu Palaniappan.
