The IPL cricket tourney resulted in emptied theatres a few months ago. Film stars, producers and directors were a bit scared of losing audiences as the cricket craze among people would cause them losses. Several top stars from Bollywood and other artistes from the film industry also turned franchisees to the IPL teams and some of them made money and several other lost as well. Now, the film artistes themselves have decided to pose a threat to the IPL and make it to run for money. They came forward to launch Celebrity Cricket League (CCL).
Raadan pictures, Sprint Telefilms and a few corporate bodies will make up CCL Pvt Limited with Hyderabad-based Vishnu Induri as the co-founder. The CCL will have five teams one each for Bollywood (Hindi), Tollywood (Telugu), Kollywood (Tamil), Mollywood (Malayalam) and Sandalwood (Karnataka) with teams of actors representing their respective industries playing the CCL T-20 challenge.
There will be a bidding for franchises to own these celebrities teams by the first week of December. Of the bid amount 60 percent will go towards fees of the actors association of each film industry, who will ensure their actors play in the matches. The rest of the amount will go as remuneration to the star cricketers.
Confirming the inception of Celebrity Cricket League, Vishnu Induri says, I have had this plan long ago and with the success of IPL, we decided to form Celebrity Cricket League.
