Dissecting the box office run of 'Action Replayy'

It is two weeks since the release of 'Action Replayy' and it is crystal clear that audience didn't quite warm up to the film. Many ask me about the reason behind that.
Whether it is due to Akshay Kumar overkill? (But then didn't Ajay Devgn too have close to half a dozen release in 2010?)
Was it because the film was actually badly made? (Not really, but then different viewers, different opinions!)
Was it because of the pairing of Akshay and Aishwarya Rai? (But wasn't it supposed to be one of the hugest selling points of the film?)
In fact some even claim that the film would have been a bigger loss making preposition if it would have released in a non-Diwali week. Well, my argument on this is different!
I strongly believe based on my conversation with 'aam junta' and general reading of film business that 'Action Replayy' would have done far better had it not arrived in the same week as 'Golmaal 3'. It is simple; audience wanted to watch one film over the weekend and since 'Golmaal 3' had such huge brand value attached to it, the choice was made. Add to that the fact it was a better received film and the word of mouth on the street was clear - 'If you want to watch one film, go for 'Golmaal 3'.
Had it arrived solo on some other week or with a weaker competition, 'Action Replayy' would have enjoyed a better innings for itself. No, it wouldn't have been a blockbuster hit but then it would have sailed smooth at least because it is a far better product than 'Khatta Meetha', a film which with much lesser music, script and entertainment quotient, still managed decent collections for itself.
Of course it is easier to indulge in post-release argument but the fact still remains that eventually, 'Action Replayy' did lesser than what it perhaps deserved!
