Sarath Kumar, who is of late trying his hands at varied roles, is playing a transgender in ‘Kanchana’, a bilingual directed by choreographer-actor-filmmaker Raghava Larencce.

“Since I found the script so interesting and my role very challenging, I had no hesitation in signing ‘Kanchana’. I am now doing homework for the film,” says the president of South Indian Film Artistes Association.

To fit himself well to the role, Sarath has removed his moustache and attends public functions in a clean-shaven look. “Cinema has changed a lot. An actor has to do a lot of experiments to remain active,” he says.

On the political front, the founder of Akila India Samathuva Makkal Katchi is planning to tour the entire State from January to meet people. Since elections are fast approaching, he feels this movie would take his party’s principles to the voters.
