We all know the love and respect Vivek has for former Indian President A P J Abdul Kalam. And now, the comedian is busy mooting a call for declaring the eminent scientist’s birthday as National Students’ Day.

A few days ago, Vivek, along with students of a school on the suburbs of Chennai, launched a signature campaign for the cause. A large number of students participated at the event and expressed their support.

Explaining the reason behind his act, the actor says, “He (Kalam) is the one person who cares a lot for students. He has always ignited young minds and promoted education for children. Hence we request the government to declare his birthday as Students’ Day”.

Vivek, who got an opportunity to interact with the former President on a couple of times, says, “Though Kalamji is not keen on a day to be celebrated in his name, I am very interested in it because it would go a long way in inspiring children”.
