"After ‘Pasanga’, I was waiting for a right script. My desire is not to do action-packed roles. I wanted a meaty role with more scope to perform and thankfully, ‘Kalavani’ happened," says Vimal, who hogged the limelight playing an LIC agent in 'Pasanga'.

Produced by Nazir, who worked as manager for Madhavan and Trisha, 'Kalavani' directed by debutant filmmaker Sargunam features a newcomer from Kerala, Oviya in the female lead role.

"It is a realistic film with commercial elements. It is a collection of events that the director had come across during his younger days in his home town Thanjavur," Vimal says.

He adds: "The local dialect of Thanjavur has not been used before in any movie. We have used it after intense research. ‘Kalavani’ is a feast for youngsters".
